Kansas basketball will host a pair of exceptional combo guards in the Class of 2024 on official visits at the beginning of September.

In addition to holding an on-campus visit for 5-star guard Jalil Bethea, the Kansas Jayhawks will bring in Jared Harris that same weekend. Assuming they do not commit elsewhere before they take place, they could be prioritized by Bill Self’s coaching staff.

Harris, a 6-foot-4 combo guard who is an incoming senior at Silsbee High School in Texas, has quickly made a name for himself in the Class of 2024. He expects to make his college decision once the calendar turns to November.

The two-sport athlete is the No. 14 ranked shooting guard and No. 75 ranked overall player in his class, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He was provided a prospect grade of 0.9693.

He holds offers from other premier programs such as Texas, Houston, and several other Big 12 rivals. In fact, he plans to take a visit down in Fort Worth to see the TCU Horned Frogs on Sep. 30. Mississippi State is also expecting him to visit on Sep. 16, two weeks after he arrives in Lawrence.

When asked about why he likes KU, he said: “They put people in the league and that is where I am trying to go.” Harris also mentioned that he’s been receiving increased interest from the program in the past few months.

Bethea is much more highly touted than Harris, so he could be considered a backup plan. However, Coach Self has a history of developing lesser-known high school guards, such as Devonte’ Graham and Frank Mason III.

Derik Queen is also expected to visit sometime this summer, but he’ll likely touch down on campus earlier than Harris will.
