One of the top players in the Class of 2024 — Derik Queen — is planning to schedule a visit with Kansas basketball sometime this summer.

The Kansas Jayhawks have their eyes on both of the top centers in next year’s recruiting class. After hosting top 5 prospect Flory Bidunga on an official visit in May, KU hopes to do the same with fellow big man Derik Queen.

Queen, the No. 6 ranked player and No. 2 ranked center according to 247 Sports, is looking to visit Lawrence in August or early September. An undisclosed source revealed that he is also finalizing dates to see LSU, Georgetown, and Houston. He plans to tour Georgetown before any of the other aforementioned schools, with the visit likely coming in July.

Kansas basketball extended an offer to him on Oct. 9 of last year, and the rising senior has skyrocketed in the rankings ever since. Queen has already taken official visits to Indiana and Maryland, which have been considered the favorites to land him. However, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the Jayhawks jumped into the race.

He’s coming off a junior season at Montverde Academy in which he averaged 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on the No. 2 high school team in the country. Queen was teammates with former KU basketball signee Chris Johnson and fellow recruiting targets Cooper Flagg and Liam McNeeley.

Combo guard Jalil Bethea is scheduled to visit Kansas on Aug. 31, so the two highly touted recruits could be on campus around a similar time frame. The versatile 6-foot-9 center would be a huge addition to KU’s 2024 recruiting class.

The report stems from 247 Sports analyst Trevor Branham. You can view the article here.
