Kansas football is one of the few schools still involved in the recruitment of Michael Boganowski, so we made a case as to why he should commit to the Jayhawks.

Michael Boganowski has long been considered the No. 1 player in the State of Kansas. Boganowski, a linebacker hailing from Junction City, Kansas, lives only about 20 miles from Manhattan. The 247 Sports Composite also lists him as the No. 400 player in the Class of 2024.

If the Kansas Jayhawks are able to pull off getting a commitment from the top-ranked recruit in the state, it would send shockwaves throughout Kansas. More importantly, though, it lets K-State know they aren’t the only in-state school for the premier recruits in Kansas to attend.

The Jayhawks can offer Boganowski a lot, and I’m sure Lance Leipold and company are pulling out all the stops to reel him in. Kansas can show Boganowski tangible on-field results that show progress as well as the best recruiting class in program history since recruiting databases existed.

The new gateway stadium project plan is certainly helping the Jayhawks’ case in recruiting and I’m sure Boganowski is taking note of the positive progressions the program has made during Leipold’s tenure. According to Allen Trieu and Michael Swain from 247 Sports, Boganowski will now visit three schools at the end of the month — Kansas on July 25, K-State on July 27, and Oklahoma on July 28.

Boganowski has been viewed as a Kansas State or Oklahoma lean for a while now and has even received a crystal ball to the Wildcats back in June following his official visit to Manhattan. Recently, he has been posting Kansas Jayhawks graphics on Twitter, signaling KU still has a puncher’s chance at landing him.  It’s worth noting he took his first trip to Lawrence on June 9.

If I had to predict where Boganowski lands as a percentage, I’d give K-State a 40% chance, Kansas football a 30% chance, and Oklahoma a 30% chance. I truly think it is that close of a recruitment, but I’d give the Wildcats a slight lead as of now to ultimately land him.
