Former Kansas basketball center Joel Embiid was named to the All-NBA 1st Team, yet another accolade for the superstar 76ers player.
Joel Embiid has one of the most accomplished NBA careers among former Kansas Jayhawks. He has won consecutive scoring titles, made six All-Star teams, and won this year’s MVP award.
The accomplishments do not stop there for Embiid, as he was recently named to an All-NBA 1st Team for the first time. Although he had received four All-NBA 2nd Team selections, the nomination to the 1st team officially honors him as the NBA’s best center.

Embiid has had a fantastic season, averaging 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds while shooting 54.8 percent from the floor. His performance led the Philadelphia 76ers to the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
Philly currently leads the Boston Celtics 3-2 in the Eastern Conference semifinals heading into tonight’s matchup. If the 6ers pull off the victory, it would be the first time Embiid has reached the conference finals in his career. It also could mean that his first NBA championship ring is in store, as the winner of the 76ers series will be playing the much lower-seeded Miami Heat or New York Knicks next round.

Philadelphia winning a title would make Embiid an NBA MVP and champion all in the same season. The last player to do so was Stephen Curry in 2014-15.
Embiid was the first former Kansas Jayhawk to win the league’s MVP award since Wilt Chamberlain.
The Cameroon native is representing Kansas University especially well. Hopefully, Embiid will go all the way and complete his dream season.
