It appears Bryce Thompson is ready to take his talents away from Kansas basketball, as the freshman guard announced this morning that he will be entering the transfer portal.

His transfer will be a tough one for this Kansas team, as Bryce held a strong amount of potential. Fans certainly saw his talent on the court and it’s a shame that he’ll be moving on from Lawrence.

Bryce saw some decent time on the floor this past season. Despite a mid-season injury, the freshman made a strong comeback and even found some minutes in March.

While only averaging a couple of buckets per game, Thompson’s speed is what stood out to fans and it’ll be a valuable part of his resume as he re-starts his recruiting process.

His dynamic with Dajuan Harris was exciting to watch. It’ll be disappointing for fans not to watch that combo develop here at Kansas.

Despite the challenges with Covid-19, Bryce missed considerable time due to his injury sustained against Texas. He may want to find a fresh start as the pandemic begins to loosen its grip on the world.

There’ll be eyes on Bryce for sure, and they could even come from the Big 12. While it would make for an awkward meeting in the future, it would be interesting to see if that’s where Bryce’s interest is.

The more likely assumption will be that he’ll look to find a different conference to compete in. While his hometown of Tulsa, OK isn’t too far away, he could want to expand his horizons.

It’s sad to see Bryce move on from Kansas, but it seems he is taking advantage of the time available in his college career to find himself a niche that works for him.
