Five Kansas basketball players to watch during March Madness

David McCormack

By far, one of the strongest on the Kansas Jayhawks’ offense has been David McCormack.

McCormack has led Kansas’ inside attack, averaging over 13 points per game. His presence has helped keep the Jayhawks offense in the conversation, and has been one of the defining factors in this team’s climb from unranked to now, a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

After having tested positive for Covid-19, Dave missed the Big 12 Tourney, which Kansas would ultimately withdraw from after another test on their roster returned positive.

He’s been off the floor for a while now, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. Dave was hot heading into the end of Kansas’ regular season. His performance against Baylor was one of the most refreshing wins fans had seen all year.

This brought attention to Dave’s defense ability as well, which has been developing throughout his career. If the junior forward can find a spark on defense and create strong pressure, he’ll be a lethal weapon for the Jayhawks throughout the tournament.

Now, he’ll be looked to on the national stage. Kansas doesn’t have a tough opener against Eastern Washington, but it’s no excuse for their guard down on Saturday.
