Giving up their third straight loss, Kansas basketball finishes 0-3 in their latest road stretch. The loss to the Sooners offered a dependent workload for Marcus Garrett, who will need to help lead this team back in the right direction.

In their latest road stretch, Kansas basketball has struggled to pick up a win. Despite a close run with the Sooners, the Jayhawks couldn’t seem to push themselves ahead and ended up losing 75-68 in Norman. The Jayhawks have now lost three straight and are flying back to Lawrence.

Senior guard Marcus Garrett had an impressive game, finding 21 points and 12 rebounds. This was one of Garrett’s best performances of the season, regardless of the disappointing loss.

Kansas struggled to hold down De’Vion Harmon, who was finding crucial buckets for the Sooners and ended up leading Oklahoma in scoring. Harmon’s scoring combined with the speed and ball movement of Austin Reaves created a tough defensive situation for the Jayhawks.

The good news is that Kansas competed diligently today and kept the Sooners on their toes.

Despite being outscored, the Jayhawks kept pace in Norman and produced an interesting battle. Falling short in Norman may have come as a surprise to fans though, which isn’t surprising for those who expected a much different scene in January.

The obvious problem here is that Kansas is losing to conference talent, some of which isn’t even sitting in the nation’s Top 25. Garrett has made it clear that he wants ‘something to change’ and he wants it soon.

Challenges from the outside have continued to plague the effectiveness of Kansas’ perimeter weapons and this is signaling for more support from Garrett and Agbaji. These two already carry a solid workload for the team and it’ll be taxing for them until the shots start to click.

While Jalen Wilson was able to secure two threes this morning, Christian Braun would go 0-3 from outside the line.

We’ve seen some more minutes from younger talent as well. The only concern has been reliability. If Kansas is going to salvage this season, it’s going to come from our upperclassmen. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great we’re seeing our younger talent utilized, but it isn’t channeling enough offensively for the Jayhawks.

Kansas will welcome TCU to Allen Fieldhouse on Thursday, which gives head coach Bill Self a decent break. The season’s direction is unclear for the Jayhawks at the moment, but it wouldn’t hurt to go back to the drawing board. If another few days off is on the schedule for Kansas, let’s hope it yields some success next time around.
