4. Latrell Jossell, Guard – Three-star recruit

Latrell Jossell was an obscure, unrecruited guard until Kansas basketball came calling. Jossell only had one other school interested in him before the Jayhawks, and that was Dallas Baptist. It’s really hard to comprehend how under the radar Jossell was. He wasn’t ranked at all, and it almost seemed like he didn’t exist according to major recruiting outlets.

Shortly after receiving his offer from Kansas, Jossell committed on November 14 of 2019, and then signed a day later on November 15.

Jossell stands at six feet tall and 160 pounds. There’s not a lot out there on him, but here’s what Eric Bossi of Rivals had this to say about Jossell:

"“I just watched Jossell over the weekend and he’s not the typical high end prospect you usually see Kansas involved with. He is a very good athlete, can shoot a bit from deep and plays really hard.”"

Now rated as a three-star, Jossell may be one of the lowest-ranked recruits in recent memory to come to Kansas.

At this point, it’s hard to see what the future holds for the Texas native. He seems like a probable redshirt given Kansas will have multiple top-tier guards like Marcus Garrett, Dajuan Harris, Bryce Thompson, and others.

Still, don’t let the stars fool you. Bill Self has a fantastic record of developing four-year guys. Frank Mason, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, and Landen Lucas were all three-star recruits coming to Kansas, and all three have gone on to professional careers.

Or even look at the success Christian Braun has had this year. The former three-star prospect has cracked the starting lineup in his freshman season, and a bright career seems to be in his future. Could Jossell be next?
