Kansas basketball signee Bryce Thompson will be competing in the prestigious 2020 McDonald’s All American Game.

Kansas basketball landed one five-star recruit in their 2020 class, combo guard Bryce Thompson. The Oklahoma native is currently ranked as the no. nineteen overall recruit in the country by both Rivals and 247 Sports.

Before committing to Bill Self and the Jayhawks, Thompson had offers from other major schools like North Carolina, Michigan State, Texas Tech, and Colorado. Once committed, Thompson signed his national letter of intent on November 13.

Now the Booker T. Washington High School senior has another impressive honor: being selected for the McDonald’s All American Game. It’s one of the most prestigious accolades a high school hooper can get since the All Americans are ranked as some of the highest recruits in the country. The roster is full of talent this season,  but for some reason, Thompson is listed as “undecided,” which is a mistake.

Here’s Thompson’s tweet about making the McDonald’s All American Game game:

Other recent Kansas basketball players that were McDonald’s All Americans include Devon Dotson, David McCormack, Quentin Grimes, Udoka Azubuike, and Josh Jackson.

Thompson will be joining Tyon Grant-FosterGethro Muscadin, and Latrell Jossell in the Kansas basketball recruiting class of 2020. Thompson is the only five-star recruit out of the group, but this class can do some damage, especially given who the Jayhawks will have returning next season.

The 2020 class is currently ranked no. 12 in the nation according to Rivals and no. 14 by 247 Sports. The NCAA notice of allegations put Bill Self and Kansas at a disadvantage on the recruiting trail, but Self and the coaching staff have done a wonderful job of putting this class together. Depending on who leaves after this season, the Jayhawks could also search around for a grad transfer if they need a position filled quickly.

Bryce Thompson is the cream of the crop in his class, and it’ll be exciting to see what he can do as a Jayhawk. The young guard has lots of talent, and everyone is going to be put on notice during the All American game, which will be played on Wednesday, April 1 in Houston.
