1. Beat Kansas State in football and basketball

In the 2010s, Kansas basketball was 19-4 with no home losses against in-state rival Kansas State. This season, the Jayhawks should look to continue that domination.

The Wildcats are off to an expectedly rough 7-5 start this season. Kansas State lost a lot of talent after claiming a Big 12 title in 2019, so the Jayhawks should have no issues sweeping the Wildcats in basketball this season.

Football though, that’s a different story.

Kansas football didn’t beat the Wildcats a single time during the 2010s, which just goes to show how far behind the Jayhawks are behind their in-state rival. As a matter of fact, the Jayhawks haven’t got a Sunflower Showdown victory since 2008.

That must change in 2020.

The fan support in the 2019 season was the best it’d been in the decade. Attendance was way up, and Kansas even recorded their first sellout in the decade against the Wildcats. The Jayhawks absolutely blew it though and got blown out at home by Kansas State 38-10 in a game that wasn’t even that close.

If Kansas football wants to win the state in recruiting and be taken seriously, they have to make the game against Kansas State competitive.

The game in 2020 will be in Manhattan, so it won’t be an easy win by any means. Still, the Jayhawks came very close to getting a road win against the Wildcats in 2018, so it’s not impossible.
