Celtics looking at former Jayhawk Thomas Robinson
By Stan Unruh
Kansas basketball fans will always love Thomas Robinson. The 26-year-old power forward is working out for a new NBA team on the east coast.
There is a special place in the hearts of Kansas basketball fans for Thomas Robinson. Of course his amazing play at the end of the overtime win against Missouri is among the greatest Jayhawk moments. You know that one and the photos of the play that continue in use as fan Facebook cover photos. I know a few fans who actually left that game early. However, that’s another story.
As a matter of fact, many of us think of the unexpected death of Robinson’s 37-year-old mother during the 2011 basketball season. T-Rob had a lot of unexpected responsibility thrust on him. A lot for anyone including a college kid. Hall of fame coach Bill Self and all Kansas basketball fans wanted success for him in the NBA. He found it but has been forced to jump all over the league. The former NBA lottery pick has played on six teams during his five years of NBA action.
Kansas basketball fans find it difficult to keep track of players in the NBA especially if they play on a half-dozen teams. I had forgotten Robinson suffered through the disappointing last season with the Lakers. They might be fun to watch in 2017 but Robinson won’t be there. He is a free agent. As a matter of fact, he may get a shot at joining the Boston Celtics, according to a report from Lakersnation.com.

Robinson played in 48 games last season and has averaged just over 13-minutes a game during his career while scoring just under five points and five rebounds in those games. He brings some amazing intangibles to a team and deserves another shot at an NBA roster. The Celtics might be the perfect landing spot.
