Kansas basketball should thank Mitchell Robinson
By Stan Unruh
Kansas basketball fans want Mitchell Robinson to play for Bill Self. The head coach might want to thank the 7-foot McDonalds All-American.
Kansas basketball fans continue to follow the Mitchell Robinson story. The young man did stop in Lawrence in mid-August. The Jayhawks could use a little help in the front court. Robinson, a McDonalds All-American, is talented and would look good in Crimson and Blue.
Before stopping to see the Kansas basketball program, he visited LSU. The Tigers announced soon afterward they were no longer recruiting Robinson. That proved to be interesting. We don’t know what prompted that announcement.
Since his trip to Lawrence, he reportedly visited New Orleans and fans of both schools waited for some good news. Someone also suggested Robinson might return to Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers coach released Robinson from his scholarship agreement. Not to mention, the NCAA had the final word on whether he played this season.
According to Gary Bedore in The Kansas City Star, Robinson is not going to return to school — any school. That doesn’t surprise me. We don’t know what Mitchell Robinson wants or what he needs. The Kansas basketball program should thank him.

As a matter of fact, you may remember during Robinson’s trip to Lawrence he used social media to comment on the visit. That tweet received lots of retweets, comments and love. Media around the country wrote about the tweet. It is nice promotion
for the Jayhawks.
The endorsement of a McDonalds All-American says a lot. Future recruits will know the truth. The Kansas basketball program is indeed nice. Mitchell Robinson said it was nice. Bill Self should thank him for letting everyone know.
