Marvin Bagley III, described by CBS as the best high school prospect in the world won’t play for Kansas basketball. The 6-foot 11-inch forward from Arizona is expected to play out west.
Kansas basketball needs another front court, rim protector. The Jayhawks need another big man since grad transfer Jack Whitman suddenly left the team. I still don’t understand that decision. I don’t think we will ever know prompted him to leave after just a few days in Lawrence.
One target of the Kansas basketball coaching staff, Marvin Bagley III is set to make a big announcement on his future. I don’t believe the top prospect in the class of 2018 visited Lawrence. Gary Parish at CBS indicated Bagley did make trips to USC, UCLA and another school in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Kansas basketball team took a trip to Italy while Bagley supposedly worked on his decision to go to college or back to high school.
I do not believe Bagley really wants to play college basketball. He may announce he is attending college but he just wants to play in the NBA as fast as possible. I can’t blame him. On the other hand, I think Monday’s big announcement is a month late. I don’t understand why he needs to go on SportsCenter but that is the popular thing to do. ESPN needs help too.

Big man Mitchell Robinson did visit Kansas over the weekend. He tweeted nice comments about the trip. Kansas basketball fans don’t know if he is the right fit for Bill Self. It is very unlikely the NCAA will allow Robinson to play this season. Coach Self has a plan and will outcoach the rest of the Big 12 with the players already on the roster.
