Kansas football fans will get a small taste of the 2017 season this week. The annual Big 12 conference media blitz begins in Texas.

Kansas football fan are enthusiastic about the season and I am too.  It is only July but this week will help me overcome my impatience for the Kansas football season. I am ready to hear from David Beaty. I also can’t want to hear from the Jayhawk players chosen to attend the Big 12 Media Days in Frisco, Texas.  Beaty appropriately selected defensive end and preseason Big 12 defensive player of the year, Dorance Armstrong to make the trip.

In addition, two other returning defensive players Daniel Wise, a defensive tackle and linebacker Joe Dinnen will be there. Left tackle Hakeen Adeniji will represent the offense.

As a matter of fact, there are dozens of questions to ask coach Beaty and the players at this media circus. Here are a few things we might want ask if we were there. For example, when the season kicks off, will Beaty name one starting quarterback or use two?  One starter is all Beaty needs. It doesn’t matter which one. We can discuss that later.

It might be nice to hear Beaty talk about new offensive coordinator Doug Meecham. What impact will he have on this season? Equally important,  is  Dorance Armstrong ready to live up to the preseason hype?  By the same token, what can we expect from the kicking game this year?

Over the next few days, Beaty will answer a lot of questions. He’s good with the media. He’s chosen just the right group of returning starters to represent Kansas football. It’s just a taste of what is ahead as Jayhawk fans count down to the September 2, season opener against Southeast Missouri State.
