Many Kansas basketball fans miss the border war.  They know who is responsible for ending the rivalry games and it is not Bill Self.

Kansas fans do not like Missouri. That’s not new and that is not going to change. It’s a part of history. As a matter of fact, the dislike did not end when the Tigers left for the Southeastern Conference.

We all enjoyed the Border War rivalry games and some great memories on the basketball court and the football field.  Now a former Missouri Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin is blaming Kansas basketball coach Bill Self for no more Border War Battles, according to John Tally in AL.com

Loftin who is a Texas A&M alum, another former Big 12 team that lost a long-time rivalry game, is an interesting gentleman. Yes, he’s brilliant but he is clueless about the Border War.

We recently wrote how the new Missouri Athletic Director was begging to resume the Border War.  He even assigned responsibility of renewing the contests to new basketball coach Cuonzo Martin.

Kansas basketball fans can’t stop laughing at that thought. I can’t believe Loftin actually thinks Bill Self is to blame.  Maybe some of the folks in Columbia finally realize the importance of the rivalry. Kansas does not need Missouri. Loftin knows the  real reason the rivalry ended. For the same reason Texas no longer schedules Texas A&M.  Moving to the SEC looked good but has not been a great move for either school.

Kansas basketball coach and Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger need to ignore the cries from Columbia on resuming the Border War. Many fans would love it. The television networks could make a lot of money with it. The school who ruined it does not deserve to see the games resume.
