Kansas Basketball fans are excited for Frank Mason. It is difficult to keep up with the National Player of the Year as he travels across the country.

What a whirlwind past 6 weeks for Kansas basketball star Frank Mason.  He walked the hill at KU graduation May 14.  On June 22, ESPN nominated Bill Self’s 2016-17 star point guard for an ESPY in the Best Male College Athlete category.  (You can cast a vote for Frank daily here) A few hours later, the Sacramento Kings made him a member of their team with the 34th pick in the NBA draft.

As a matter of fact, Mason returned to Kansas City Saturday. He threw out the first pitch before game one of the Royals doubleheader with the Minnesota Twins.  On KU day at Kaufman Stadium. last August, Mason also threw out the first pitch. In this case, he had a much better throw -much  better than Josh Jackson in Arizona last week, which isn’t saying much.

Since the busy Thursday June 22 that changed his life he has crisscrossed the country. Last weekend Mason was getting to know some of his new teammates and fulfilling obligations with his new California team. The Kings gave him jersey number 15 to wear his season. Willie Cauley-Stein already wears 0.

Back in Kansas late this week, Mason signed autographs at a clothing store and taped a television commercial for a car dealer, according to several social media reports. The young man is living out his dream and appears to enjoy it.

In addition, every Jayhawk fan is thrilled to see Mason get all of this attention.  He is a class act and certainly deserves all of this and so much more- a perfect example of hard work paying off.  I can’t wait to see him in action when the Kings begin their summer league schedule in a few days.
