Some Kansas football fans are patient. Some Kansas football fans are fed up. David Beaty must feel the incredible pressure to please both.

Kansas football coach David Beaty is not on any list of coaches on the hot seat. A recent Sports Illustrated report listed ten college football coaches who have the least job security and the most pressure to win.  It included some big names and some that surprised me including one in the Big 12 conference.

If the list included one hundred names, it would not include Beaty.  On the other hand, the fed-up football

fans are going to ask how many games does Kansas football need to win?  What is it going to take to build on the little taste of success from the end of last season?

As a matter of fact, Beaty’s seat may not be hot but as June moves toward July, he has as much pressure to win as any coach. When you consider what is on the line, you wonder how the coach has time to sleep.

He has recruited a highly-publicized quarterback to run his offense.  Fans have heard that one before and it didn’t work out well.  Will Peyton Bender earn the starting job? Beaty has a new coach to call plays. The addition of Dough Meacham will help and should have a big impact this season.

In addition to everything on Beaty’s brain, his boss announced last week the University is moving forward with a $300 million Memorial Stadium renovation plan. In the Kansas City Star, Beaty was quoted as saying fans “deserve a really, really nice stadium.” Fans need to see positive results on the field before they get to really, really enjoy an improved Memorial Stadium. No hot seat for Beaty but another 300 million reasons to win now.
