Kansas Football: Ahead of social media curve

Social media is crazy, disgusting and more important than you thought.
Take a look at any major college athletic program. They all have they multiple social media accounts. This is not new but how it is monitored is becoming more important.
The coaches are also expected live and die on social media. It’s just part of the way they all work now.
Like it or not, the nation’s chief executive is also among the most prolific on social media.
During the recruiting process, coaches pay attention to what players do and say on social media. What coaches do on social media is also critical to their success.
Coach Beaty worked several seasons as a receivers coach at Texas A&M. Last year, the Aggies disciplined a football coach for his inappropriate use of social media.
Now, another SEC program is reportedly monitoring social media of the coaches they are interviewing for open positions.
Auburn’s Gus Malzahn discussed a variety of topics including college football and social media during a recent podcast with the immediate past president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

While I have not done any comparison, it would be tough to do what Coach Beaty does on twitter all year. It seems appropriate, not overwhelming and he is very consistent.
I’m sure Beaty would consider doing what Malzahn is doing.. In fact, I’m sure they do. It’s a necessity in 2017.
A coach’s online presence is now a critical part of telling their story. Some older coaches may not take time to play on twitter or Instagram. That’s fine. Kansas football has the advantage.
