Tier 2

The second tier of the point guard recruits features guys with definite Kansas offers, but are currently behind Trae Young in the pecking order. These guys will almost certainly have Kansas on their lists until near the end of their recruitment, and you will likely read about the Kansas coaches visiting with them in the near future.

Troy Brown – Centennial (NV) – Las Vegas Prospects (Nike EYBL)

The Las Vegas guard has been on the Kansas radar for quite awhile thanks to his sister, Jada Brown, who is currently on the Kansas women’s basketball team. Brown is currently ranked as the #13 overall player in the Top247 Composite for 2017

Brown is a tall – 6’6″ – and lean lead guard that tends to play as a jack-of-all-trades player. He can lead his team in scoring when needed, or take a back seat to feed other scorers in other games. He has great size and athleticism for the position, and is a very good passer.

Holding Brown back right now is his shooting – as he’s both not a great shooter from deep and is reluctant at times to take shots against high level competition.

School List: Alabama, Arizona, California, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville

California and Arizona have received the most mention in regards to Brown of late, but Alabama offered in December and is reportedly making up ground with him. His 247Sports Crystal Ball currently has California and Duke as co-leaders, though we expect Duke to fall off as they target other players. While Kansas will continue to get mentioned with Brown, we don’t expect them to begin a serious push for his services until Trae Young’s decision has been made.
