The Kansas Jayhawks’ offensive line is welcoming five new members via the NCAA Transfer Portal in what was rated as the nation’s 53rd-best transfer class. This new-look Kansas offensive front will be set to replace the likes of Bryce Foster, Enrique Cruz Jr. and Kobe Baynes, who have are all looking to carve out their respective NFL careers.
According to depth chart projection website Ourlads, the Kansas Jayhawks are set to field a starting front comprising Calvin Clements at left tackle, Amir Herring at left guard, Kasen Carpenter at center, Connor Stroh at right guard and Nick Morrow at right tackle.
Earlier this month, Kansas offensive line coach Daryl Agpalsa spoke about Stroh and the development he has made leading up to his first season in the Big 12.
“I think at the end of the day, assessing Connor over the last nine practices, he has moved in the right direction. He is progressing, working, improving to get better. Overall, consistency and really trusting the big picture of the offense and knowing the schemes.”
Stroh comes to the Jayhawks after three seasons with the Texas Longhorns in the SEC. Stroh didn’t see the field in 2023 or 2024, but started in five games at left guard, and appeared in 10 total for a Texas team that finished 10-3.
“We talk about his eyes a lot, making sure his eyes are in the right place versus his movements. And he's been hella coachable, to be honest with you guys now. He's been awesome in that respect, and there is a track where he is moving in the right direction. I'm excited where he's going.”
Stroh was rated as the nation’s 239th-best portal prospect last season also filing in as the country’s 12th-best inside offensive lineman, signaling a key piece in the future of this offense.
Coming out of high school, Stroh held power-conference offers from 18 different universities, one of which the Kansas Jayhawks in the class of 2023.
According to 247Sports, Stroh is Kansas’ highest-rated transfer of the 2026 at an 89 overall.
Stroh will have to help string together an improved offensive line
Last season, the Jayhawks’ offensive success quickly plateaued as the season wore on. From October 11 on, KU tallied 21+ points just twice, and one of those performances came in their 17-point win over an already deflated Oklahoma State squad that won zero games against FBS competition last season and only one in total.
Overall, the Jayhawks posted the nation’s 77th-best offense in the land, which compiled 368.8 yards per game, 157.8 rushing yards per game (60th in the nation), and the 88th-best passing yards per game with 211.0 to follow suit.
Of course, all these stats aren’t to do with the offensive line; Jalon Daniels’ final season at KU didn’t quite go as he probably would have wanted, and the Jayhawks’ wideout game was still very raw. This year, things should be steadier as a whole, and Stroh will be a key reason why.
