In the modern era of collegiate football with the transfer portal, mass shifts in roster changes are a norm for every major institution in nearly every sport. You don't have to look any further then the Jayhawks who saw a class of 28 transfers come through the portal with a number of starters.
So when there is a crop of freshman looking to make an impact it is worth taking note of.
Carson Bruhn, a redshirt freshman tight end, is one of many who are expected to play at that position according to the expected depth chart heading into Kansas' next game against Wagner this Friday.

Bruhn also played valuable minutes when Kansas took down Fresno State this past Saturday as Kansas won 31-7.
Here is what head coach Lance Leipold said of Bruhn during Monday's obligatory press conference with the media.
“You know there are four tight ends that are seeing time, you know, but he [Bruhn] did get the most. I think right now he’s probably the biggest body of them and the best in-line blocker that we have. But he has shown that he's been very consistent through camp and will continue to battle for those, but as you can see all those guys are seeing time during all times of the game I guess is how I want to say it. But Carson Bruhn showed that he is going to be a very, very good football player here in the future."
As we talked about last week, Leipold had already pointed towards true freshman Tate Nagy as a punt returner. Below is what the former Buffalo coach said of Nagy.
“I thought of course for a true freshman in his first game, Tate Nagy did a very nice job in the punt return game for us.[He] made good decisions, had one return, so, something to build upon once again.”
Now, neither had the massive breakout star-studded I am sure they were dreaming of, but as the season goes on, the opportunities for both will grow.
