Recently, we have been keeping your tabs full of the numerous growing incoming transfers to the Kansas Jayhawks. While that page is growing by what feels like the minute, there also has to be an article where we cover the outgoings from a team that finished with a 5-7 record. In this ever-updating list, we will be listing the outgoing players, their position, their meaningful stats from last season, their portal destination (if available), and their current year.

All ratings will be taken from 247Sports.

Running Back: Johnny Thompson Jr. (.8700 HS)

Thompson is currently a redshirt sophomore, where he saw action in four games this season and totaled 19 carries for 75 total yards, with his highest-yardage coming in Kansas’ 46-7 win over Wagner in week one. Against the Seahawks, Thompson notched nine rushes for 37 yards.

Wide Receiver: Bryce Cohoon (.8400 HS)

The Wichita, Kansas, native originally started his career far away from home at Syracuse, where he appeared in three games but did not record any statistics. Cohoon then transferred to the Jayhawks, where he played in four games of the 2024 season and was targeted once.

In the 2025 season, Cohoon played in all 12 games and made one tackle on special teams.

Linebacker: JaCorey Stewart (.8600 HS) Florida International University

The redshirt freshman struggled to find valuable minutes, and saw minimal action against Wagner, West Virginia, UCF and Kansas State.

Tight End Jaden Hamm (.8700 HS) Arkansas State

Hamm, a redshirt sophomore, was once the fifth-highest rated player out of the state. Hamm was consistently shut out of a starting position. In 2025, it was Boden Groen who raised his level to lead that tight end corps. Hamm registered one kick return for two yards and played in all 12 games.

Safety: Damani Maxson (.8500 T)

Maxson was a former three-star prospect out of Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas. Maxson, currently a redshirt freshman, only appeared in three games in his Kansas career, with two of those coming against Wagner and Texas Tech in the 2025 season.

Safety: Lyrik Rawls (.8600 T) Arizona State

Rawls was the first heavy-hitting transfer to exit the portal, as Rawls notched 56 tackles, solo tackles with 16 assisted tackles, an outrageous interception, and seven defended passes.

Cornerback: Jameel Croft Jr (.8400 T) Charlotte

The redshirt sophomore Croft played in five games in the 2025 season, where he registered one tackle in Kansas’ 42-17 loss to the No. 9 Texas Tech Red Raiders. In 2024, Croft totaled two tackles and four kick returns for 55 yards.

Linebacker: Logan Brantley (.8400 T) Boise State

Brantley, a redshirt sophomore, totaled eight tackles, including .5 a sack. Brantley’s best performances came in their 31-7 win against Fresno State, where Brantley notched two tackles and half of a sack. Brantley also notched four total tackles in the Jayhawks’ 46-7 win against Wagner.

Offensive Tackle: Greydon Grimes (.8500 T)

Grimes appeared in one game this past season, Kansas’ win over Wagner. The redshirt freshman was a former three-star prospect who did not see any action in 2024.

Safety: Laquan Robinson (.8400 T)

Robinson was a player who came on late in the season, having forced a fumble in Kansas’  38-21 win over Oklahoma State. Robinson totaled four tackles on the season.

Offensive Tackle: Kene Anene (.8500 T) North Dakota State

Anene, a redshirt freshman, played a bit-part role in his time with the Jayhawks, having only played in two games this season

Quarterback: David McComb (.8500 T)

McComb, a true freshman, was Oklahoma’s 15th-best prospect in the class of 2025 and was a contender for the starting spot, assuming the Jayhawks did not reach into the portal to find a new quarterback.

Running Back: Harry Stewart III (.8800 HS)

The redshirt freshman played in 10 games in 2025, carrying 21 times for 98 yards and 1 touchdown along with five receptions for 29 yards.

Edge: Caleb Redd (.8500 T)

Redd transferred to the Jayhawks from the Kentucky Wildcats, where the redshirt freshman appeared in three games, making one tackle against Texas Tech.

Cornerback: Aundre Gibson (.8500 T) Northern Arizona University

Gibson saw action in just one game this season, Kansas big win over Wagner. The redshirt freshman saw no game time in his first season.

Cornerback: Jacoby Davis (.8800 HS)

Davis, a redshirt sophomore, played in five games this season, his most meaningful coming in Kansas’ 27-20 win over UCF, where Davis notched one tackle.

Offensive Lineman: Tyler Mercer (.8500 HS) Oklahoma State

The true sophomore had a breakout freshman season, where Mercer started six games and was named an On3 Freshman All-American. However, his sophomore season saw his role take a massive decrease as Mercer played in just three games this season.

Linebacker: Trey Lathan (.8600 T)

Lathan himself is a former transfer from the West Virginia Mountaineers who was an .8600-rated transfer when he departed Morgantown. In Lathan’s lone season with the Jayhawks, he totaled a team-leading 86 tackles, with 1.5 sacks, and 51 solo tackles. While Kansas’ defense suffered with the 94th worst total defense, allowing 409.5 yards, Lathan usually looked the most stable linebacker out of the pack.

Offensive Tackle: Carter Lavrusky (.8900 HS)

The former three-star Lavrusky played in Kansas’ opening two games; however, did not see action for the rest of the season. Lavrusky finished this season as a redshirt freshman and did not see the field during his freshman season.

Wide Receiver: Jaidyn Doss (.8900 HS)

Doss was a late addition to the Jayhawks, having transferred from Nebraska. Doss was switched from a WR to a defensive back during his time with the Huskers; however, at KU his position is listed on the official website as a wideout. The redshirt sophomore did not see the field last season.

Edge: Dylan Brooks (.9400 HS)

Brooks was once a coveted transfer from Auburn, yet the redshirt senior’s career as a Jayhawk never really panned out, as Brooks missed each of Kansas’ last two seasons with season-long injuries.

Linebacker: Joseph Sipp Jr. (.8100 HS)

Sipp is a former All-Mac selection at Bowling Green who appeared in four games last season, where the senior made two tackles.

Linebacker: Jon Jon Kamara (.8600 T) Wisconsin

Kamara, a redshirt freshman, played in all 12 games for the Jayhawks last season, making three starts, where he totaled 13 tackles, with 1.5 tackles for loss and an assisted sack. In Kamara’s freshman season with Kansas, he saw the field in four games.

Safety: Devin Dye (N/A)

Dye was a key member of last season’s secondary as he played in 11 games, starting one and marking 26 tackles, with four pass breakups and one interception against Fresno State in Kansas’ week zero win.

Safety: Jalen Dye (.8400 HS)

Jalen was another integral part of the KU defense as he recorded 11 tackles and one sack, while also recording a forced fumble. The pair are each redshirt seniors.
