The Kansas Jayhawks are playing their best basketball of the season right now, and it is all coming from two ranked wins over No. 13 BYU, and then, after the rankings came out on Monday, No. 13 Texas Tech. This was going to be the Jayhawks' toughest stretch yet this season, and they made it through with flying colors. Freshman Darryn Peterson has been the difference maker.
Against BYU, Peterson only played 20 minutes, but ended with 18 points, three steals, and three rebounds. The star freshman played a season high 35 minutes against Texas Tech, and even after a slow start shooting, still ended with 19 points, six of them coming at the right time.
Peterson made just two field goals in the second half, but they were the biggest of the game. Down by three, Kansas needed a big shot with 1:20 left on the clock, and Peterson was able to hit the game-tying contested 3-pointer from the corner. About 40 seconds later, he hit another 3-pointer to ultimately give Kansas the 64-61 lead that they would never relinquish.
Peterson's clutch shooting has been big for Kansas all season, but his injuries have kept him out of matchups and away from hitting those big shots. Kansas men's basketball shared a slow-motion clip of Peterson's ultimate game-winning 3-pointer, and it truly looks like it was movie magic.

Darryn Peterson finally was able to finish a game for the Jayhawks
Peterson's 35 minutes on the court for the Jayhawks were the most he has had all season long. The last time he played even near that amount was the overtime win over TCU, where he played 32 minutes in the huge win over the Horned Frogs.
Peterson was ecstatic about his ability to finally finish a game for the Jayhawks and not have to be held out because of an injury.
"This is the first game I got through to the end," Peterson said. "I've been trying to all year, so to finally be able to do it, it's a blessing."
If Peterson is truly on the upward track and leaving the injury messes behind him, this Kansas team has the chance to go very far in March. Peterson is the difference maker the Jayhawks need to be as competitive as possible, and it showed in the win over Texas Tech on Monday night.
