While there were moments of struggle during Kansas’ 5-7 2025, one of the few shining stars was wideout Emmanuel Henderson Jr.

Henderson finished the season with 766 yards through the air, along with five touchdowns. Henderson also added a stellar 25.3 yards per return, which added one touchdown against the West Virginia Mountaineers in Kansas’ 41-10 blowout win to open up conference play for the Jayhawks.

The Alabama transfer was just selected by the Seattle Seahawks minutes ago.

Henderson’s breakout game

Despite the Jayhawks losing 37-34 to the Cincinnati Bearcats in Kansas’ fifth game of the season, Henderson compiled an unfathomable 214 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Henderson averaged 42.8 yards per reception.

Henderson finished with three games of 100+ yards, including Cincinnati, a 130-yard performance against FCS side Wagner in week one, and a 113-yard game against the Utah Utes, his final game as a Jayhawk.

The All-Big 12 Third Team member earned a prospect grade of 5.88 from the NFL’s Next Gen Stats. Those numbers predict Henderson to be an “average backup or special-teamer.”

What is Henderson’s best asset?

Without a doubt, Henderson’s speed will be an asset for the Seahawks. His quick acceleration, combined with his strong ability to make adjustments mid-air, makes him worthy of a shot at the next level.

Out of high school, Henderson was ranked as the nation’s 39th-best player and the second-best prospect out of Alabama and was handed a five-star ranking by the 247Sports Composite.

While there is still work to do on Henderson, for so late in the draft, the Super Bowl LX champions drafted a high-ceiling prospect.

Henderson joins offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue and is the second Jayhawk to be drafted behind Enrique Cruz Jr
