Kansas football came into the season ranked, and fans had high expectations for Lance Leipold's fourth year in Lawrence. Part of that is due to the return of quarterback Jalon Daniels, who missed the majority of last season with a recurring back injury. Well, Jayhawk supporters might wish Jason Bean was back through the first three games of the season.

Daniels threw three picks in last week's disappointing loss to Illinois, and boy were they ugly. He certainly doesn't look like the game-changing signal-caller that he has been over the past two seasons. Now, JD6 is single-handedly giving UNLV a chance to get back into the game in tonight's matchup.

After starting the game off 7-for-8 passing and rushing for a pair of scores on the ground, the California native has followed that up six straight incompletions with two interceptions. The first was not a good look, with Daniels completely disregarding the safety over the middle of the field. The second was even worse, as he threw it directly to UNLV's middle linebacker who could have been seen from a mile away.

Luckily for KU, the Rebels weren't able to capitalize on the near pick-6 return and kicked a field goal to bridge the gap 17-16. Regardless, Daniels appears to be a shell of himself, and social media is going nuts over his abominable turnovers.

People are absolutely justified in their response to Daniels' struggles. He has six picks in less than 12 quarters in 2024 and was supposed to lead the Jayhawks to a top-3 finish in the Big 12. It's difficult to see that happening if he continues to play this way.

If Daniels is still hurt, the coaching staff needs to get him off the field immediately because he has been embarrassingly bad this season. Let's see whether the Jayhawks can overcome poor quarterback play to finish with a positive record during nonconference play.
