The No. 22 ranked Kansas Jayhawks opened the season Thursday night with a dominant 48-3 win over an overmatched Lindenwood squad. The Jayhawks forced a 3-and-out and marched down to score a touchdown in their first possession. It was followed by a sloppy rest of the first quarter with a fumble and interception.

Kansas got rolling in the second quarter and went to halftime with a 34-0 lead. The second half saw backup Cole Ballard and backup running backs take over as the Jayhawks cruised to a 48-3 win. Ballard showed the ability to lead the squad if needed down the line, which was positive to see.

KU finished with 530 yards compared to 202. We had 199 passing yards and 331 rushing yards. Great start to a promising season. Next up on the road against Illinois. The Jayhawk Storm is Coming! Get ready Big 12, this is the year we regain our top spot.

Tier 1: Big Jays

1. Devin Neal

The Major of Lawrence, spurning the NFL for another year to rep his hometown Jayhawks started the year right where he left off… on fire. Devin had eight carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns. He looks like one of the best running backs in the nation and it will be a fun year watching him dominate.=

2. Luke Grimm

The Grimm Reaper came out and dominated Thursday night leading the Jayhawks with six catches for 111 yards and a touchdown. He was great after the catch and made some nice plays with the ball in his hands.

3. Mello Dotson

Mello led the Jayhawks with five solo tackles. His night was highlighted by a 33-yard pick-six!

4. Jalon Daniels

In his return to the field following his injury-riddled previous season, JD6 reminded us what we have — a legit dual-threat stud of a QB that should lead this team to new heights this season. Jalon went 9-for-15 for 148 yards, tossing one touchdown and one interception. Two of those incompletions were deep throws that were caught and out of bounds and knocked out of the WR's hand at the last second. He had a good tempo and threw lots of nice balls. His lone mistake was a misthrow to the sideline that was easily intercepted in the first quarter.
