G Zeke Mayo - South Dakota State

2023-24 Statistics: 35 G, 18.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, 46.6% FG, 2.6 3PM, 39.1% 3PT

The 2024 Summit League Player of the Year would fit lots of the holes on KU's roster. He was the primary ball handler at SDSU and finished the year with a strong 19% assist rate. More importantly, he is a terrific shooter who can hit threes off the dribble or spotting up.

Something to note here is that Mayo is originally from Lawrence, Kansas, but he was not recruited heavily out of high school and only had a few Division I offers. Mayo has been linked to Kansas for weeks, especially since KU football running back Devin Neal tried to recruit him on Twitter. They graduated from high school the same year and are supposedly close friends.

The 6-foot-3 combo guard would presumably fill the void of Nick Timberlake, though his offensive game is much more complete. He is a strong finisher at the rim as well, shooting 67% when driving to the rack this year.

Mayo revealed that Kansas reached out to him yesterday, which most people expected. The Jayhawks would be smart to pursue this player if he is willing to take a smaller role in the offense.
