We all want Kansas football to turn it around and start winning games, but time is running out for the Jayhawks and Lance Leipold to get back on track. Fans understandably expected a successful season following a 9-4 finish with a bowl win in 2023. Yet, this team has already matched that loss total and has given KU supporters no reason to think it won't keep growing.

Coach Leipold is known as someone who gets fired up for his players and always defends his guys, However, even he appears to be down in the dumps amid the Jayhawks' rough stretch. Nick Springer, an avid KU fan and co-host of the Pay Heed Podcast, noticed Leipold looked more "dejected" than ever during his Monday press conference. This can't be a good sign:

Lance Leipold looks distraught after fourth consecutive loss

For the past few weeks, Leipold has given media the same lecture about believing in the coaching staff and the team, no matter how tough the going gets. But even he is having trouble believing himself now — he is clearly distraught over the team's recent struggles. You can determine it yourself:

Springer calling Leipold's demeanor "dejected" seems fitting after watching this clip. The usually vibrant KU head coach seemed anything but himself yesterday, looking disheartened and in low spirits. That certainly isn't what fans want to see heading into a must-win contest at Arizona State this weekend.

The situation at Kansas couldn't be more disappointing: the quarterback play is lacking, the offensive play-calls are uninspiring, and the defense has become porous in recent weeks. For a squad that entered the campaign with College Football Playoff hopes, the output has been flat-out embarrassing by Leipold and Co.

Regardless of how bad the team has looked, Leipold must continue to put his players in a position to compete. The Kansas football program cannot afford to be set back another handful of years.
