Lance Leipold and the Kansas football coaching staff received more good news on the recruiting front today as Michigan State defensive end Bai Jobe committed to play for the Jayhawks this upcoming season.

Jobe – a former highly touted four-star recruit ranked as the No. 1 player in Oklahoma and the No. 73 overall prospect in the 2023 class (according to Rivals) – picked KU after taking a recent visit to Lawrence and Mississippi State this past week.

Coming out of high school, Jobe had offers from some of the best programs in the country including Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Texas.

Although Jobe wasn’t able to find his way onto the field much at Michigan State, he clearly has the talent and upside this Kansas football staff is looking for as they try to replace the production lost by Austin Booker leaving for the NFL this offseason.

While returning senior Jereme Robinson likely has a starting spot solidified, Jobe should have the chance to compete for early playing time on the opposite edge with Auburn transfer Dylan Brooks and incoming four-star freshmen Dakyus Brinkley and Deshawn Warner.

Sometimes a change of scenery and new leadership is all a player needs to turn their game around, and this Kansas coaching staff has proven their ability to develop players and bring the potential out of them – particularly at defensive end with players like Booker and Lonnie Phelps now playing in the NFL.

If they can do that with Jobe, this KU defense could look a lot more dangerous – and the staff may have found themselves another future All-Big 12 talent and NFL Draft pick.
