Kansas football has already secured transfer portal commitments from DeShawn Hanika, Devin Dye, and Dylan Wudke after losing a couple of scholarship players before the team's bowl game. The Jayhawks' coaching staff has its eyes on another impressive talent with the NCAA Dead Period over.

Former Army wide receiver Isaiah Alston spent four years with the Black Knights and has entered the portal as a grad transfer. The redshirt junior has two years of eligibility remaining and is an extremely shifty runner. He was named to Phil Steele's Preseason All-Independent First Team before the year.

It is hard to measure Alston's stats at the Army because of their famous option scheme. However, fans should note that he led the team in receiving yards for the past three seasons. He has totaled 1,031 yards and six touchdowns on 49 catches dating back to 2020.

When Alston decided to leave Army, he immediately received an offer from KU. They were the first school to enter his recruitment. Talks had been heating up, and he was expected to schedule a visit sometime in January. That visit has yet to be announced.

Alston is set to visit Iowa State beginning on Jan. 3, a fellow Big 12 school the Jayhawks took Hanika from. That seems like the school to beat in this race. He has also been connected to James Madison and Houston.

The 6-foot-4 receiver would fit right into Kansas' athletic and tall receiver room. Fans might be reminded of Lawrence Arnold and Quentin Skinner when watching his tape.

Adding Alston would be massive, especially because wideout depth in Lawrence looks thin after the 2024 season. He could become a major-impact player by his final year of eligibility if he commits to Kansas. More information about his recruitment should be released in the coming days.
