The Kansas Jayhawks have one of the most iconic colorways in college basketball history. Regardless of your opinion on the team and program, most people can appreciate the classic white, crimson, and blue threads that KU utilizes.

Basketball jerseys in Lawrence were closely associated with the "Circus" font from the 1980s through the early 2000s. Since partnering with Adidas in 2005, the Jayhawks have primarily used the "Trajan" font on their traditional jerseys, reserving the Circus font for alternate use. That seems bound to change, as the social media team dropped subtle hints yesterday pointing to an aesthetic change.

Kansas basketball hints at big news release on social media

There is plenty of nostalgia connected to Circus font jerseys, dating back to the Danny Manning-led championship team in 1988 and even Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich squads in the early 2000s. While the program has built many great memories since switching to Adidas, most can agree that Trajan isn't the most visually pleasing font.

On Oct. 1, the Facebook and X accounts changed their profile pictures to a banner that reads "KU" in Circus font. They also released a post on social media insinuating that something important would happen the next day. Beat reporter Michael Swain noted that Adidas' official website is already selling Kansas basketball jerseys with the Circus font. Could it be any more obvious at this point?

The change seems inevitable and appears to be imminent. Kansas insider and "KU Scoopsmeister" Mike Vernon has been hinting at this change for months, so it should come as no surprise to those following his newsletter closely.

Over the years, the Circus font has undergone slight transformations. When the school was partnered with Champion, the font had a distinctive style that changed with Nike. Fans can expect another minor aesthetic modification with Adidas. Still, it will be exciting to watch the Jayhawks donning a revamped jersey for years to come.
