The Kansas basketball team defeated Yale 75-60 last night. In an otherwise unimpressive showing, Kevin McCullar was one of the few bright spots. He made up nearly half of the Jayhawks' points, scoring a career-high 34 to go along with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. He shot 11-for-17 from the field and connected on 4-of-7 of his threes.
For the season, McCullar is averaging 20.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. He is playing at an All-American level and has received recognition from NBA mock drafts since the season began. Some are even saying he is the best player on the team over Hunter Dickinson.
He had been playing terrific basketball as of late, but the Jayhawk faithful had never seen him display that level of offensive dominance in a game before last night. Some fans and analysts took their thoughts to social media about how he performed.
"Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!! What a performance off the bench by Timerlake. But Kevin McCullar played like he will be Big 12 POY and First Team AA!!!" a KU fan tweeted.
"McCullar definitely looked like he had a fever, and the only cure is more cowbell. Great career high from the consistently reliable Kevin McCullar," someone joked.
"It’s crazy seeing Kevin McCullar’s growth in real time," an X user said.
Jayhawk fans were stunned by how well he was playing. "Kevin McCullar is an absolute G. His ability to score, defend, rebound, guard nearly every position, is a game changer. He’s playing out of his mind tonight. I love this," someone wrote.
The performance even had some users questioning where he stands on KU's all-time transfer list. "Is Kevin McCullar Bill Self’s best transfer ever?" one account asks.
Here are some other great reactions on X (formerly known as Twitter).

It's a rarity when one team has two First-Team All-Americans, but it could happen this year for Kansas with Hunter Dickinson and Kevin McCullar, who had 34 tonight against Yale.
