Coming off a loss at UCF, Kansas basketball was in need of some home cooking. With Johnny Furphy making the start in place of Elmarko Jackson, the Jayhawks did just that.

KU came out feeding off the crowd and built an early 9-point first-half lead before OU climbed back in it. The first half was back and forth, with KU leading at the break 38-37. Johnny provided a spark in his starting role had two offensive rebounds in the first seven minutes, and finished his only look in that span. KJ came out inspired and led the Jayhawks at the half with 15 points.

The second half was the Kevin McCullar and Hunter Dickinson show. Kev had 15 second-half points, and Hunter had 14 second-half points to pace the Jayhawks. KU took control in the second half while OU tried to keep it close with multiple timely 3-pointers to keep the game in reach. The Jayhawks put the Sooners to bed and sent them off to the SEC, as it will be the last time we see them in Allen Fieldhouse for the foreseeable future.

The last win for the Sooners in Allen Fieldhouse came in 1993. The final score saw the Jayhawks cruise to victory over the No. 9 ranked Sooners 78-66. The Jayhawks struggled from 3-point range, shooting only 20% on 3-for-15. The difference was two key stats for the Jayhawks as we finally took care of the basketball, finishing with just two turnovers in the game. The Jayhawks were also lights out from the free throw line, going 17-for-18 from the charity stripe.

Tier 1: Big Jays

1. Hunter Dickinson

Hunter was back to his dominant ways on Saturday, bouncing back from his lackluster performance at UCF. What was even more impressive was his effort on the defensive side of the ball, where he led the Jayhawks with a game-high five blocked shots. Hunter led the Jayhawks in points, rebounds, and blocks on the day. Dickinson finished with 24 points, 14 rebounds, five blocked shots, two assists and one turnover.

2. KJ Adams

KJ led the charge in the first half and continues to be a defensive menace out there. KJ finished the game with his second double-double of the season. KJ had 15 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.

3. Kevin McCullar

Kevin got whatever he wanted in the second half. He continuously attacked the basket leading to foul after foul. Once at the line, Kev made them count, going 10-for-11 from the charity stripe. Kev continues to be an all-around player that shines bright. McCullar finished with 21 points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one turnover.

4. Johnny Furphy

Johnny got the start over Elmarko Jackson and played 19 minutes. Johnny earned the right to continue to start going forward. Johnny attacks the glass, hustles in his minutes, and provides something this team needs. Johnny finished with seven points, three rebounds, two steals, and no turnovers. The more he plays, the more comfortable he will continue to get and the more and more he will contribute.
