Coaches and staff members from various KU sports teams have joined forces for a good cause ahead of the upcoming holiday season.

The Lawrence Humane Society recently announced via their Instagram a joint project with Kansas Athletics to sell “Dogs of Kansas Athletics” 2025 wall calendars featuring KU coaches and their dogs to help raise money for the shelter and the more than 6,500 animals that they care for year-round.

According to the society’s Instagram post, it appears the project was spearheaded (at least in part) by “Voice of the Jayhawks” Brian Hanni, while the calendar was photographed and designed by staff members of the Lawrence Humane Society.

Kansas basketball coach Bill Self and KU football coach Lance Leipold are two of the coaches featured in the calendar.

Leipold and his wife Kelly are featured with their two French bulldogs Izzy and Lola. Meanwhile, Self is pictured with a 9.5-year-old mastiff named Hootie.

Hootie was a Lawrence Humane alum who belonged to the shelter's Development Director Elina Alterman before sadly passing away after a battle with cancer. Hanni decided to dedicate the calendar in Hootie's name.

The calendars can be purchased online at lawrencehumane.org/shop or by visiting Rally House locations in Lawrence starting Oct. 1.
