EA Sports ranks Kansas football in Top 25 ahead of ‘College Football 25’ game release
By Dillon Davis
One of the most popular sports video games ever is set to return as “EA Sports College Football 25” goes on sale July 19. It has college football fans excited as the game is making a comeback after a 10-year hiatus following legal disputes that were raised regarding player image and likeness.
One of the things fans look forward to with these games (which are similar to the Madden NFL series) is the overall team ratings – which are based on a combination of a team’s offensive and defensive ratings.
The Kansas Jayhawks find themselves ranked in the top 25 at No. 22 with an 87 overall rating. This comes on the heels of the Jayhawks being ranked as the No. 14 offense overall.
While these rankings may come with less prominence than AP preseason polls and things of that nature, it still shows that KU is being recognized more and more on a national scale as a real player in college football these days.
The offense should be one of the best in the country with some of the best returning starters in the country in quarterback Jalon Daniels and running back Devin Neal – not to mention a trio of wide receivers that should be as good as any in the Big 12 this year.
The defense has big playmakers returning in the form of cornerbacks Cobee Bryant and Mello Dotson, along with several newcomers looking to make an impact in the front seven.
And with a head coach like Lance Leipold, who is widely recognized as a top 10-15 coach in the country currently, it’s not hard to understand why there’s a lot of hype and expectation of this football team headed into the 2024-25 season.
Although the season is still two months away, KU fans can begin seeing this Kansas team play once EA Sports releases the game in the coming weeks. EA Sports College Football 25 releases on July 19 for Playstation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.
