The Kansas basketball program reeled in a top-five recruiting class in the Class of 2024, and the Jayhawks are looking to continue that trend in the following graduating year. Head coach Bill Self has been linked to some of the top high school prospects in the country.

One of those players is Darius Acuff, a 5-star point guard who attends IMG Academy. For the first time in a while, Kansas received some news on the recruiting trail that wasn't from the transfer portal. Joe Tipton of On3 reported that Acuff would take an official visit to the KU campus this weekend.

Although Daryn Peterson has been considered the top 2025 target for Kansas, Acuff will surprisingly visit campus first. According to 247 Sports, the 6-foot-3 guard is the No. 4 rated player in the 2025 class. He is also the top-rated point guard in the rankings.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Acuff is a physical guard who is an excellent shot-creator. He finds open shots for his teammates and is a certified bucket-getter. After dominating the EYBL circuit all summer, he turned in a successful junior year at IMG, one of the top high school programs in the country.

Kansas has plenty of guards to make minutes for over the next few seasons, as Elmarko Jackson, Labaron Philon, and Jamari McDowell will still hold multiple years of eligibility by the time Acuff reaches the college level. However, there are very few recruits of his caliber on the market. One thing for certain is that Coach Self and his staff are staying active in all aspects of recruiting, even when they are making splashes in the transfer portal.

Here is a scouting report of Acuff provided by 247 Sports' Adam Finkelstein and a video linking his highlights.

"Acuff’s scoring and playmaking presence was a constant for IMG this week. He has good positional size, a strong frame to absorb contact, and a ton of craft to his game. He changes pace extremely well, has a soft floater game, good dexterity, and a ton of wrong-footed finishes and passes in his game. He was also a consistent shooting threat from behind the arc with good touch and rotation. There were times when the ball got stuck in his hands, but he showed pinpoint passing ability as times as well. He threw lobs as well as anyone and also nailed shooters in their shot-pocket around the perimeter."
