15% to blame: Offensive Coordinator Jeff Grimes

In another case of deja vu, Jeff Grimes once again will have one of the larger slices of blame pie. To his credit, the Kansas OC did call a great first half and better game overall than his showing at Illinois. Despite this, the offense became incredibly stagnant as the game progressed and five of the six possessions in the 2nd half added up to -22 yards.

It is becoming clearer and clearer that the Jayhawks miss Andy Kotelnicki’s offensive creativity and use of weapons. Against UNLV, Luke Grimm had just 3 catches for 6 yards and Quentin Skinner did not record a single catch. Grimes did lean on the run game and Devin Neal more as fans demanded he do, but the long-term success of the offense under him is beginning to look bleak.
