Blame Pie: Who is most responsible for Kansas Football’s loss at Illinois?
By Tyler Key
35% to blame: QB Jalon Daniels
There’s no way around this… JD6 was horrible tonight. He avoids being the biggest slice in the blame pie as he was not in charge of the inept play-calling, but once the plays were called, Daniels did not make the most of them. In fact, he did the least with them in some situations, most notably the forced pick-six throw prior to the first-half ending. That poor decision changed the entire momentum of the game.
He also added two more interceptions throughout the game and connected on just 18 of his 32 passes (56.3% accuracy). Daniels forced many throws into close coverage and had numerous over-throws and under-throws to various receivers throughout the night. He will undoubtedly have to be better moving forward for the Jayhawks to be successful.
