1. G Zeke Mayo - South Dakota State

2023-24 Statistics: 35 G, 18.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, 46.6% FG, 2.6 3PM, 39.1% 3PT

Ever since Mayo entered the transfer portal, his name has been directly linked to Kansas. The Lawrence native is a close friend of KU football running back Devin Neal, and he graduated from Lawrence High School with him after spending most of his life as a Jayhawk fan.

Mayo is a 6-foot-4 guard who can knock down the 3-ball and create shots for his teammates. He is a liability defensively, but that could likely be corrected by Bill Self. The SDSU transfer would greatly improve KU's floor spacing and would serve in a role similar to what fans expected Nick Timberlake to have, only in a much greater capacity.

He spent three seasons at South Dakota State and got better every year, winning Summit League Player of the Year in 2023-24 and leading the Jackrabbits to an NCAA Tournament appearance. Kansas is one of his final four transfer options along with Creighton, Oklahoma, and Texas.

As it stands right now, Mayo appears to be the top transfer portal target for the KU coaching staff. Fans should expect him to visit the campus and make a decision soon.
