4 potential Kansas basketball starting lineups on Jayhawks’ opening night
Bill Self has a plethora of options to use in the starting five.
Option 3: Dajuan Harris, Rylan Griffen, AJ Storr, KJ Adams, Hunter Dickinson
Self mentioned Mayo as one of the players who he would have a hard time keeping out of the starting five, but there is still a ways to go until the season. Anything can change from now until opening night. There is still a possibility Kansas decides to use him as a sixth man off the bench.
At the end of the day, Adams is a fan-favorite and loved dearly by the coaching staff. His athleticism and gritty play style is a vital component of the team. He is more likely to be in the starting five than not. Meanwhile, Griffen is lengthier, a better defender, and shoots just as well as Mayo from 3-point range (39.1% to 39.2% in 2023-24).
