No. 2 - Utilize the superior running backs more often

Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw Jr. need to get more carries. That was so very obvious. For the season, Neal is averaging 9.7 yards per carry, and Hishaw is averaging 6.6 yards per tote, yet they combined for just 21 caries for 140 yards against Illinois.

While it is good to establish the fact Daniels can run with a couple of early called plays with him carrying the ball, most of his carries should come from scrambling or stepping up in the pocket and taking off when necessary. In all, Daniels had 10 ineffective carries for a measly 27 yards. Considering the running backs, Daniels had too many carries.

There was one sequence when Neal gained seven yards on first down (which lowered his average), then wasn't given the ball again. When these running backs are being effective, don't forget about them. Feed them the ball until someone stops them. These guys are studs; feed those beasts.
