Kansas’ season was derailed by injuries in 2024, but the Jayhawks are expected to be back in the mix in 2025, per oddsmakers.

The Jayhawks, who may have Hunter Dickinson back in Lawrence in 2025, are second in the opening odds to win the National Championship in the opening odds. The team may have some returning talent, but also a top 10 recruiting class incoming before the team even hits the transfer portal, where head coach Bill Self has done incredibly well of late, including nabbing Kevin McCullar Jr. two years ago.

Playing in the best conference in college basketball, the Big 12, the Jayhawks will have plenty of opportunities next season to showcase its worth, but the team does have to continue adding if the team is lucky enough to get Dickinson back in the fold.

The team did play an incredibly short bench in 2024, typically only seven players, and due to some untimely injuries to both Dickinson and McCullar, the team was a quick exit in the Round of 32.

Can Self reload and have the Jayhawks back in the mix next season? Oddsmakers are bullish on the head coach to keep this team in the mix come next season.

For now, ahead of a busy offseason across college basketball, here’s the first look at the 2025 National Championship odds.
