The Kansas football team has some of the highest expectations for this upcoming season compared to what it has had in program history. Some outlets project the Jayhawks to finish as a top team in the Big 12, while others believe Lance Leipold can lead his group all the way to a College Football Playoff appearance.

One particular college football writer anticipates a massively successful year for KU. Rodney Knuppel of College Sports Wire released his game-by-game predictions for the 2024 season, and the Jayhawks only lose one game in this hypothetical to finish with an 11-1 record. We'd sign up for that!

CFB analyst predicts 11-1 regular season for Kansas football

Lindenwood: 38-17 (W)
Illinois: 28-24 (W)
UNLV: 45-20 (W)
West Virginia: 31-28 (W)
TCU: 34-31 (W)
Arizona State: 41-17 (W)
Houston: 49-14 (W)
Kansas State: 35-31 (L)
Iowa State: 24-21 (W)
BYU: 38-27 (W)
Colorado: 55-41 (W)
Baylor: 28-27 (W)

The only time in school history that KU won 11 games in the regular season was in 2007 when Mark Mangino led his squad to an Orange Bowl victory and nearly an appearance in the BCS Championship. Could that outcome be repeated 17 years later?

Knuppel lists K-State as the only loss on the schedule. Some fans might trade in a few victories to finally end the 15-year streak that has haunted KU in the Sunflower Showdown. It is easily the most important game of the season.

It is worth noting that Kansas likely has the easiest path to success in the Big 12 this season. Analytics show that Leipold and Co. have the least challenging schedule in the entire conference. The Jayhawks were lucky enough to avoid Utah, Oklahoma State, and Arizona in league play, three schools that are widely considered favorites to win the conference championship.

The scores would create some anxiety if they came to fruition — six of the team's 12 contests are decided by one possession in his predictions — but Jayhawk supporters would be elated to finish with double-digit victories in the regular season. Let's see if Leipold can pull off a magical campaign in 2024.
