After months of speculation and back-and-forth battles between fanbases, it all finally culminates in Tuesday night’s commitment decision for the nation’s No. 1 recruit, Tyran Stokes.
Stokes has been steadily revealing his commitment timeline over the past weeks. He first reposted a graphic of his top three schools: Oregon, Kansas and Kentucky.
Later that same week, Stokes replied to a post on X, asking when he would make his decision. Stokes' response foreshadowed that a commitment was near, but fans have been left pondering: Who really is the favorite?
Oregon drops out of the race
Despite being included in Stokes’ final three, a report from Matt Norlander of CBS Sports recently confirmed that the Ducks are no longer in consideration.
I specifically asked if Oregon was still involved and was told no.

Stokes will be the crown jewel in Kansas’ next season
So far, the Jayhawks have reeled in the likes of four-star transfers, power forward Keanu Dawes (assuming he drops out of the NBA Draft process), guard Leroy Blyden Jr., and 7-foot-2 center Christian Reeves. If Kansas can acquire Stokes, he fits right into a promising team looking to push itself into the second weekend of March for the first time since lifting the national championship in 2022.
Kansas is also set to reel in five-star freshman point guard Taylen Kinney, four-star center Davion Adkins, four-star wing Trent Perry, and four-star shooting guard Luke Barnett. All are looking to stake their claim ahead of next season, creating a healthy bench rotation that KU lacked last season.
Last season, the Jayhawks finished with the nation’s 161st-ranked offense that posted just 75.1 points per game. Those who watched KU last year saw an unsynchronized offense that folded when guard Darryn Peterson was fully healthy, as Peterson, Tre White, and Melvin Council Jr. never got on the same page, and the offense fell into a half-court malaise rather than the high-flying fast break offense that helped propel Kansas to an eight-game winning run earlier that year.
If Stokes can get onside with a balanced scoring offense that factors the likes of Blyden, Reeves, and Dawes, then that should be an offense that ranks much higher than the 2025-26 campaign.
Where is Stokes predicted to go?
On3 recently flipped its prediction for Stokes to choose the Jayhawks, now logging a startling 83.7% chance of the Jayhawks landing the five-star talent.
This is a massive change, as just eight days ago, Stokes was handed a 25.1% chance of joining the Wildcats and a 22% chance of playing under Bill Self next season.
According to 247Sports, Stokes is still linked to Kansas, a prediction that hasn’t changed since early January.
Stokes is set to announce his destination Tuesday night around 5:30 p.m. CT on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA.”
