One of the best rivalries is back in college football. In week two of the college football season, Kansas takes the *relatively* short two and a half hour drive to take on the Missouri Tigers in what will be the first Border Showdown in over a decade.

In ESPN's college football schedule superlative list, the highly anticipated matchup was tagged.

"Kansas and Missouri will renew their series Sept. 6 in Columbia, the first time they've played since 2011. It's the first of a four-game agreement to bring back the series, which dates to 1891, and will be Kansas' first visit to Faurot Field since 2006, when Missouri won 42-17. Their 2011 meeting was at Arrowhead Stadium, with Missouri winning 24-10. The teams had met 93 years in a row before the series was not renewed following the 2011 game; at the time, it was the second-most-played rivalry in Division I-A football history."

The same matchup was marked under the "Must-see nonconference games" tab as well.

Heading into the midday matchup, Kansas will have two relative "tune-up" games as Kansas takes on Fresno State in week zero, before taking on Wagner a week later. As Missouri marks the last non-conference game of the season for the season.

For the Tigers, Kansas is planted in-between a week one game against Central Arkansas and a matchup against Louisiana, before Eli Drinkwitz's squad embarks on a daunting SEC Schedule.

The all-time matchup scale slightly weighs in the favor of the Tigers, as Missouri has the 53-48 edge according to Kansas athletics, while taking six of the last 10 matchups.

This is no doubt one of the biggest years in recent Kansas history, the Jayhawks could be poised in knocking off two massive rivals with games against Missouri and Kansas State on the horizon. While the Jayhawks will most likely be underdogs in both matchups, head coach Lance Leipold has the chance to make big waves.
