When Kansas dismantled Wagner last week in what was a 46-7 win for the Jayhawks, one of the biggest talking points wasn’t in between the sticks; rather, the absence of linebacker Bangally Kamara, who did not feature at all.
Post-match, when speaking to the press, Kansas head coach Lance Leipold spoke with the media about Kamara
“Bangally suffered a non-contact injury in Thursday's practice, and his status will be unknown for a while.”
Not a promising report in any way, shape, or form to follow that up. On Monday, during Leipold’s obligatory weekly media, the former Buffalo coach followed up.
“He [Bangally] did not practice today. That's my update, okay.” Marked Leipold, “Jack Tanner did not practice today as well, so they're not on the depth chart, so you can probably figure where that's trending for both.”
A big hit for Kansas fans as Kamara’s debut showed he could marshal the field well with four tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble the week prior in Kansas’ debut win over Fresno State in what was a 31-7 win for the Jayhawks.
But the saga took a turn this morning, when ESPN’s Pete Thamel posted this on X
Sources: Kansas starting linebacker Bangally Kamara is a game-time decision at Missouri today after suffering a non-contact injury in practice. He’s expected to dress out and warm-up for the Jayhawks, and a determination will be made. He's a transfer from both Pitt and South… pic.twitter.com/1g5fqjAcbR

Just recently, Michael Swain of 247Sports followed up Thamel’s report with footage of Kamara warming up.

If Kamara can suit up, there is no explaining the potential impact he could make. Having played 23 games in his last two years at Pitt, combined with four games as a reserve linebacker for the Gamecocks, the Ohio native has seen big stages before and will be able to keep a cool head in a hostile Faurot Field as Kansas is soon to take on the Missouri Tigers.
The Jayhawks will take on the Tigers at 2:30 PM CT on ESPN2
