Has the 2025-26 Kansas basketball season been perfect? No, while this team is extremely likable and the potential for a run in the big dance is tangible, there is still a lot to work out. Yet, if you just look a step further into the 2026 recruiting class and the incoming talent ranks among some of the best Bill Self has been able to ring in during his time at Kansas.

According to recruiting outlet 247Sports, the Jayhawks are already set to land four four stars in C Davion Adkins (No. 32), SF Trent Perry (No. 118), and SG Luke Barnett (No. 142), along with five-star point guard Taylen Kinney, who is ranked as the nation’s 14th-best prospect and the country’s top guard.

There have been murmurings over the future of the class of 2026 No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes. Stokes. Stokes has long been linked with the Kentucky Wildcats. However, recent reports have swayed Stokes to possibly land at Kansas, with a recent 247Sports prediction for Stokes to join the Jayhawks.

This season, the Wildcats have struggled to find consistency under head coach Mark Pope, as the SEC side is currently sitting with a 9-6 record through the first half of the season

Below is a short excerpt from 247Sports’ director of scouting, Adam Finkelstein on Stokes.

“The shooting is his biggest offensive swing skill, and while he has made notable strides over the years, he still has a tendency to drop his left shoulder and shoot down on the ball a bit,” quotes Finkelstein.

“Nevertheless, he still shot 36% from behind the arc on over 3 attempts per game. Defensively, he has all the physical tools and good playmaking metrics (1.8 steals & 1 block), but needs to fully commit himself to maximizing his potential on that end.”

If the Jayhawks land the highly coveted Stokes, then they would be sure to jump to the No. 1 class in the nation, likely propping themselves above the Duke Blue Devils, who recently landed the No. 16 prospect in the country, Deron Rippey Jr.

Of course, nothing is official, and with a recruit as talented as Stokes, there could be further swings in his recruitment, but as it stands, KU could be en route to a loaded class.
