The Kansas Jayhawks (15-5) (5-2) are continuing to prove doubters wrong with their recent string of performances. After a 1-2 start in conference play, which shoved the Jayhawks out of the AP Top 25 for the second time this season, Kansas has run off four straight wins, which were started by a dominant 84-63 win over the No. 2 Iowa State Cyclones, and capped off with a Sunflower Showdown 86-62 win over Kansas State.
Following Kansas’ win against the Cyclones and another against the Baylor Bears, Kansas was reinstated back into the Top 25 and up to No. 19. With two more wins added on last week, the Jayhawks have seen a further bump in their rankings.
Kansas moves up to 14th
The Jayhawks are still ranked the lowest of all the Big 12 teams selected, with Arizona (No. 1), Iowa State (No. 8), Houston (No. 10), Texas Tech (No. 11), and BYU, who sits 13th.
A crucial week for the Jayhawks
Bill Self and his team get to enjoy an extended break away from the hardwood as Kansas doesn’t play again until the 31st against the No. 13 Cougars, who are led by star forward AJ Dybantsa. Dybantsa averages 23.6 points per game, ranking second-best in the nation, and recently put up a mind-boggling 43 points in a 91-78 win over the Utah Utes, pushing BYU to a 17-2 record (5-1).
After Kansas hosts the Cougars, the Jayhawks immediately take the road to face No. 11 Texas Tech, who currently hold a 16-4 record (6-1).
Tipoff against the Cougars is set for 3:30 p.m. CT with streaming available on ESPN.
