The annual All-Big 12 football awards as voted on by Big 12 head coaches were announced Thursday and there were several Jayhawks who received recognition on this year’s lists.

Fullback Jared Casey was named First Team All-Big 12, along with cornerbacks Mello Dotson and Cobee Bryant. It was the second consecutive year being named First Team for Bryant who was also a unanimous selection this year.

Remarkably, three of KU’s starting offensive linemen were named to the All-Big 12 Second Team including Logan Brown, Michael Ford Jr., and Bryce Foster. Defensive end Dean Miller also made the list after racking up 6 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss on the season.

However, there was one notable absentee from the two lists and that was KU running back Devin Neal.

Neal ran for his third consecutive 1,000-yard season and broke multiple all-time school records along the way. He finished the year with 219 carries for 1,266 yards rushing and 16 rushing touchdowns. He also had 254 yards receiving and one touchdown through the air.

That’s nine more total touchdowns and only 81 less total yards than Kansas State’s DJ Giddens had who was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team instead of Neal.

Neal was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention along with defensive lineman Jereme Robinson, offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue, and linebacker JB Brown.

Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels was a co-winner of the Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year award.
