After a massive one-point overtime victory over NC State, the Kansas basketball team is now 8-3, with five wins in its last six outings. They have bested Notre Dame, Syracuse, Tennessee, Missouri, and NC State, while losing to UConn.

The game at NC State was highlighted by Darryn Peterson leaving late after treating his legs at every timeout and intermission and every time he stepped off the court for a breather. That situation will need continuous monitoring, but it will be surprising if he plays against Towson.

The other development against the Wolfpack was the performance of Melvin Council Jr., who hit nine of his 15 three-point attempts after knocking down just five all season. He finished with 36 points and, late in the game, scored 16 consecutive points for the Jayhawks

Projected Kansas starting lineup vs. NC State

It’s doubtful that Peterson will play (merely speculation at the time of this writing), so look for Self to revert to the lineup he started before Peterson’s return. It will be interesting to see if Council will be more aggressive on the offensive end after his big game. Nothing so far this season would have suggested his offensive explosion. That doesn't mean he might not take on a bigger scoring role with Peterson out.

  • Melvin Council Jr. - 13.0 points per game
  • Jamari McDowell - 3.8
  • Tre White - 14.1
  • Bryson Tiller - 8.6
  • Flory Bidunga - 14.1

One player who might be subbed out is Bryson Tiller, who has been a non-factor in the KU lineup in the last few games.
